Our Preschool Emergent Curriculum is an approach to education which has an emphasis on adults and children working together on an issue of relevance and interest, focusing on the process of learning rather than the product.
The curriculum content comes from the values held by the school and community as well as from the environment and the people within it. It is based on observation and the ability of children and adults to respond to what has been observed. Interests are often identified through play and there is a strong emphasis on play and a play based approach to curriculum.
Play is much more than a means of meeting curriculum outcomes; it is a way of learning! Educators observe and respond to the play that occurs, extending and enhancing the learning through our educational environment.
